Starting October 1, 2012 – when you do a product search on Google for any product, the only results you will see are those who have paid Google to be listed. We can assume that information searches will pull up information, but will the results be biased?
You might think this only affects the little guy, but that’s not the case. For example – I read that there will be no more Amazon listings on Google.
Think about how that limits your choice.
Are you searching for information on new TVs? Are you looking to buy supplements, health, weight loss, car parts? All you will find are products that have been paid to be listed.
Google is nothing more than paid advertising. And they have been gathering your personal information for years to know exactly what sell to you. Did you know that the search results you pull up will be different from the search results your neighbor pulls up?
I think I’m done with Google. How about you? That should be music to Yahoo’s ears, don’t you think? I hope they’re ready.
