Mother’s day is right around the corner, and everywhere people are fretting – ‘What should I buy Mom?’
Speaking as a Mom, this should be really easy – but I find it amazing that people know so little about their mothers.
What does your Mom like?
I don’t know.
What’s her favorite perfume?
I don’t know.
What’s her favorite flower?
I don’t know.
What does she really like to do?
I don’t know.
I personally want my daughter to stop trying to buy me clothes – well, except the tank tops last year were really great. But for the most part, we have different tastes. She would also prefer that I stop trying to buy her clothes too.
Every year I make it a point to tell her my favorite things.
A bottle of my favorite cologne, One stem of my favorite flower, or a box of my favorite candy would be greatly appreciated. You can buy me the same thing every year, I don’t care. Those are my favorite things.
And join me for dinner. If it’s going to be a restaurant, let’s not go on mother’s day when everything is a circus. Do that with your mother in law. (Just kidding)
That’s it.
Show her you’ve been listening and you know what her favorite things are – and spend some time with good food and relaxed conversation.
What more could a mom ask for?
Quit making it so hard – on both of you!
