I guess I am officially getting old. My car insurance went down! So I borrowed some Jethro Tull lyrics for the title of this post to further show my age…
I look at my age, and I just can’t fathom the fact that I’m going to be 55 real soon. But that’s not what breaks my heart.
You see, I feel so fortunate to have the health and energy to enjoy life. There’s no one left to play with. Most people my age can’t enjoy dancing, or roller skating, or sledding, or jumping in the lake and paddling around on a raft. My neighbor commented the other day, “You’re crazy!”
But that’s not necessarily what breaks my heart. What breaks my heart is to see so many people my age who are suffering. Its unbelieveable how many people around my age have had strokes, have diabetes, dibilitating arthritis, and some are even dead.
I’m not that old!
On the other end of the age spectrum are children who will grow up and have health problems earlier, and have a shorter life expectancy.
What really breaks my heart is that it doesn’t have to be that way.
We are entering the season where there is an abundance of healing great tasting foods. Make it a point to eat more fresh healthy food over the coming months. You’ll feel so much better, you’ll lose some weight, and you just might feel like jumping in the lake and enjoying life a little more.
It takes a little planning, but its really easy. I have a steak marinating for tomorrows dinner. I have plenty of salad fixings, a sweet potato, and cantaloupe. Dinner will take me about 15 minutes to make.
And then, I’m going to want to go out and play. Will you come out and play?
