Will this ride never end? I want to get off. How about you?
Let’s take a common sense look at the new risks…
Obviously, your risk is going to be higher if you’re not vaccinated.
“Nationwide, more than 99 percent of recent deaths have occurred among unvaccinated people, and more than 97 percent of recent hospitalizations have occurred among the unvaccinated, according to the C.D.C. “Look,” President Biden said on Friday, “the only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated.” NY Times
A good number of the unvaccinated are children under 12 who cannot get the vaccine yet.
Now, I would think that would mean that children under 12 should wear masks in school again this year. But parents are pushing back. I don’t understand. I would not want to take that risk with my child.
And they say that while the Delta variant is more contagious, it does not appear to be more severe.
Does that give you a sense of security?
The original version was pretty severe. Killed lots of people. To say that its not more severe doesn’t give me a lot of comfort. Oh, you’ll just be so sick you want to die for weeks. No thanks!
But, I’m vaccinated. My daughter had it. Most of my friends are vaccinated. I should feel pretty safe, right?
Depending on who you listen to, there have been 1% to 3% that are breakthrough cases in vaccinated people. We’re not entirely out of the danger zone yet.
And my heart bleeds for my unvaccinated friends. They believe that they are safer not taking the vaccine, and no amount of talking will change their mind, until they or someone close to them gets sick.
Maybe they’ll remain lucky.
