Salad Greens MixTis the season for bridal showers, weddings, graduations, and barbecues.

Finding food that everyone will like without killing yourself is always a challenge, isn’t it?

In our family, the salad bar has been really popular lately. People love it. You simply cut everything up and keep it in separate containers. Everyone can make their own creation. Here are some ideas for things to put out …

  • Dark green lettuce blend
  • Diced Tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Mushrooms
  • Cucumbers
  • Radish
  • Onions
  • Olives
  • Baby Shrimp
  • Grated Cheese
  • Pepperoncini
  • Chopped Hard Boiled Egg
  • Fresh Fruits

You’ll want to have standard salad dressings on hand –

  • Ranch
  • Italian
  • French

That will cover almost everyone’s tastes. And then you can put out a blockbuster homemade dressing for your more adventurous guests.

You can also put out other salads. Broccoli Salad is popular with many people. You can find more salad recipes here

My biggest mistake the first time I did this was underestimating how popular this would be. We went through 3 boxes of greens for 12 people, and still ran out! But I think that 1 – 5 oz. box for every 4 people is a good ratio.

Another thing that I have found is that people generally like the vegetables cut smaller rather than big hunks.

Then you can sit back and enjoy watching everyone load up on vegetables!
