No Free Lunch

I love you guys. Thanks for checking on me. It has been a rough couple of weeks with the car problems.

On the one hand, I’ve saved hundreds of dollars repairing the small things that would have needed to be done anyway. In the last 2 weeks I’ve done spark plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, PCV valve, fuel filter, valve cover gasket and injection cleaners. And she actually ran pretty good for a couple days. I thought I had it licked. Then I put more gas in and she has been running terrible.

Unfortunately, the next round of possible repairs are all more expensive and out of the range of what I can do. I guess I’m looking for a new car that I can’t afford yet, but I can’t afford to be sinking a ton of money into this old car either. At this point, whatever happens happens. I’ve done the best I can. And the scan for pin-pointing the exact problem is $85 before you even start any of the work!

At least all of the repairs so far have only cost me about $120 by doing it myself with a little help from family, friends forums, and youtube. You’d be amazed at the video information you can find on YouTube. If you need to know how to do something, seriously head over and see if you can find a video!

Saving hundreds of dollars sounds great, doesn’t it? It would have cost hundreds more to have all this work done in a shop. The problem is – it has sucked up every minute of spare time.

You pay in time, or you pay in money. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. There is always a cost.

I’ll have to keep you posted on the saga.

But being the sicko I am, we’ve still managed to eat healthy and keep the house pretty clean.  It’s been the blog and the SuperWomanClub that have taken the neglect. I’ll be working to get caught up this week, and resolving the car issues.

Thanks again for checking in on me – and thanks to those who sent Birthday wishes!
