The problem with January

You’ve been revved up for weeks. So many things you need to do. Gifts, baking, dinners, parties, all while taking care of every day life.

Then, suddenly, its over. Now its the the after holiday slump.

That’s when people try to jump into goals full force, trying to keep up the same momentum.

  • I’m not going to eat sugar
  • I’m going to lose 20 pounds this month
  • I’m going to work out every day
  • I’m going to declutter the house

It never works.

You’ve got to give yourself time to get life back in order. Time to let your body and rhythms to get back to normal.

Then, attack your goals one little bite at a time.

Speaking of bites, all those holiday foods should be pretty well gone by now. Ease back into healthier eating.

Clean up all the holiday stuff. Focus on just that for a couple of days.

If you have a lot of cookies, put some in the freezer. You can take a couple out here and there. They don’t take long to thaw.

Really clean the kitchen. Then make it a rule that the kitchen is cleaned every night. It only takes a few minutes if you are consistent.

Do a load of laundry, all the way through to put away once a day.

You’ll be caught up and ready to take on the year in a few days.
