Silicon is the beauty mineral found in bones, tendons, skin, arteries, connective tissue, hair. It is found in grains, fruits and vegetables. Processing strips most of the silicon. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Deficiencies are believed to be tied to osteoporosis, heart disease, and reduced collagen. Studies are being done with a supplement called orthosilicic acid (which is one of the forms of silicon the body can use), and the production of collagen in the skin. At this point, the studies have been done on cows, and the result is their skin is very healthy and full of collagen. I’m sure we’ll see more on this in the future, but in the meantime, eat lots of unprocessed fruits and vegetables to keep your skin looking younger.
