Lutein
Lutein provides important support for eyes and skin – the only organs directly exposed to the environment.
Lutein helps prevent macular degeneration, and it’s suggested it may even reverse some of the damage. Our eyes are strained from so much time spent staring at computer screens. Chinese researchers found that 12mg. of Lutein helped strengthen vision, and the light sensativity that many experience.
Most of us don’t think of skin as an organ, but it is a barrier of protection for the internal organs. It regulates body temperature. It plays an important role in immune response. It’s more than a beauty accessory.
Where to get it –
Avocado, broccoli, carrots, celery, eggs, kiwi, lettuce, oranges, spinach, tomatoes. Egg yolks are an especially rich source of lutein.
