1 quart sweet cider
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 Cinnamon stick
8 whole cloves
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 large lemon, sliced thin
Whole cloves for garnish
Combine cider, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, 8 cloves, nutmeg, and ginger in a large saucepan.
Slice the lemon thinly and pick out any seeds.
Reserve 6 slices, and put the rest in the saucepan.
Cook cider over medium heat stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 10 minutes.
Stud the remaining lemon slices with whole cloves.
Strain cider into cups and garnish with studded lemon slices.
