cooking

Eat foods low in purine. (Purine increases uric acid levels.)

Low purine foods – Nuts, eggs cheese, pasta, chocolate, ice cream, citrus fruits, coffee, low fat dairy, yogurt, wine

Avoid – beer, hard liquor, iron rich foods,

Purine rich foods –

Meat, especially pork, seafood, poultry, cauliflower, kidney beans, lentils lima beans, mushrooms, oats, bran, peas, spinach, asparagus, fortified cereals.

I have a friend who has had many vey painful bouts of gout, and pork and spinach are on her ‘never eat’ list. She hasn’t had an attack in quite a while.
