Wash and cut the tips off fresh green beans. I cut long ones in half.
Place about Â½ inch of water in a pan. Add green beans. If you have a steamer basket, thatâ€™s even better.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat for about 10 â€“ 15 minutes until beans are crisp-tender. Do not overcook.
Throw in just enough butter to lightly coat green beans.
Salt very sparingly.
You can throw in almond slivers to dress them up a bit.
Some people like garlic added. You can use either fresh minced garlic, or garlic powder. (fresh has
the added health benefits).
