Fall Outdoor To-Do Checklist

Fall has really arrived. We have less time to get the fall outdoor clean up done. Here’s a checklist of lawn and garden clean up chores to get done before the weather get cold. 

Print this page and do a little at a time so you’re not killing yourself trying to get it all done when its cold.

Fall Lawn Chores

____ Seed or lay sod

____ If/when you have few leaves,

 

Fall Perennial Garden Checklist

____ Tackle weeds

____ Plant spring bulbs

____ Add mulch

 

Fall Annuals and Container Garden Checklist

____ Clean out beds

____ Dig up bulbs/plants that need to be stored

____ Plant new spring bulbs

____ Add compost to vegetable beds

____ Empty planters, clean and store

 

Fall Tree and Shrub Care Checklist

____ Plant new trees and shrubs (Not evergreens. Plant those in the spring.)

____ Prune after trees and bushes have gone dormant

 

Fall Garden Tool Care Checklist

____ Clean hand tools, rub with a light coat of vegetable oil and put away in a dry place.

____ Sharpen blades so they are ready for spring. Again, apply a light coat of vegetable oil.

____ Drain hoses and irrigation lines

____ Turn off outside faucets before freeze sets in.

____ Drain all engines. Change oil. Store in a dry place.

Furniture and Grill

____ Clean all outdoor furniture and put away or cover

____ Clean Grill – put away or cover

House

____ Clean Gutters

____ Wash windows

____ Check caulk and weather stripping
