Product Recalls

The recalls this week are a combination of 2 weeks because food are still being added to the milk powder seasonings issue. Plus for some reason a lot of recalls came thru over the weekend. Hopefully, none apply to you.


The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of several flavors of Straus Family Creamery Organic Ice Cream due to the potential presence of foreign material, specifically metal fragments. The voluntary recall affects a small number of production runs of select flavors and sizes of Straus Family Creamery Organic Ice Cream, which can be identified by the “best by” date on packaging. The affected ice cream was distributed to retailers in 17 states across the country beginning May 4.


Post Consumer Brands, LLC, has recalled 13,824 boxes of Publix-branded Bran Flakes cereal due to the potential presence of plastic. The recalled cereal was sold at Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, and has the lot code OCT0526RBA. 

Do not consume the contaminated cereal; instead, throw it away or return it to Publix for a refund or replacement.


The FDA recently classified a recall on Aldi’s Specially Selected Vanilla Crรจme Brรปlรฉe as Class II, meaning that consuming the dessert could cause temporary health problems. The crรจme brรปlรฉe product is packaged in glass and has been recalled due to the potential presence of glass inside the dessert. 


FSIS issued a health alert for Giovanni Rana’s Rustic Beef Sauce & Creamy Burrata Cheese Ravioli sold at Costco due to misbranding. The product does not have an allergen warning for shellfish, which the pasta may contain and could pose a health risk for those with serious allergies. 

The product is no longer being sold at Costco, but it may be in your freezer. Check for the establishment number Est. 44870 and use-by dates between May 14, 2026, and June 25, 2026, on the frozen ravioli’s packaging. 


Spring & Mulberry Expands Voluntary Recall of Select Chocolate Bars Because of Possible Health Risk


RALEIGH, NC, UNITED STATES, May 8, 2026 — Spring & Mulberry is voluntarily expanding its previously announced recall of select chocolate bars due to possible contamination from Salmonella.


Jonco Industries Recalls Certain Consumer-Sized White Cheddar Seasoning Products Because of Possible Health Risk


Jonco Industries, Inc. of Milwaukee, WI, is recalling certain consumer-sized White Cheddar Seasoning products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.

The recalled products were distributed in limited quantities through retail stores.

The affected products include White Cheddar Seasoning sold in the following consumer-facing formats:

  • Williams Sonomaโ€“branded Popcorn Sampler Gift Box, containing a White Cheddar Seasoning component. The affected lot codes are: 088594-2-1.
  • Fireworks Popcorn Poppings & Toppings gift set containing a White Cheddar Seasoning component sold at West Allis Cheese and Sausage. The affected lot codes are: 088594-5-1.
  • Fireworks White Cheddar Seasoning, 1.6 oz jars, sold at West Allis Cheese and Sausage. The affected lot codes are: 088594-7-1.

The lot codes are printed on the product packaging. Product labels have been provided to FDA for reference.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

JCB Flavors, LLC Issues Voluntary Recall of Topical Seasonings Due to Potential Health Risk  


JCB Flavors, LLC of Watertown, Wisconsin, is voluntarily recalling select topical seasoning products due to the potential presence of Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience symptoms such as fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection can lead to more severe illnesses, including bloodstream infections, arterial infections (such as infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.

This recall is being initiated because the affected products were manufactured using a milk powder ingredient that is part of a voluntary recall issued by California Dairies, Inc. This ingredient was used in certain topical seasonings.

At this time, no illnesses or injuries associated with these products have been reported.

This action follows a California Diaries, Inc. milk powder recall due to a concern of potential Salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The product is packaged in a 7.33 ounce, black bag with the Giant Eagle logo at the top, and is located in the snack aisle.

The recall is limited to the following Giant Eagle Baked Pita Chips With Parmesan, Garlic & Herb batches.

Zanesville, Ohio (May 5, 2026) – My Wifeโ€™s Slaw is voluntarily recalling its Original and Jalapeno Heat flavored coleslaw sold in 8 oz and 16 oz glass mason jars. Horizon Organic recalled 3,500+ cases of lowfat chocolate milk due to potentially compromised packaging. A public health alert has been issued for certain meat and poultry products, including pork rinds and frozen pizzas sold at Walmart and Aldi, according to an April 30 announcement from the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The dairy in the products may be contaminated with Salmonella, a pathogen that can cause severe foodborne illness, though no illnesses have been reported to date.

 of Detroit MI, is recalling its catch weight packages of “Ma Cohenโ€™s Kippered Herring” smoked fish because this product consists of, uneviscerated fish longer than five inches, which has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.

The recalled “Ma Cohens Kippered Herring” were distributed in retail grocery stores throughout MI, MN, and ND.

The product is packaged in a clear plastic package, and a foil label with the product name and information and LOT #โ€™s on the back of the package. The expiration dates are printed on the back of the package or listed on store added stickers along with the catch weight.

Boulder, CO โ€“ May 2, 2026 โ€“ The a2 Milk Company (โ€œa2MCโ€) has voluntarily recalled three specific batches of its imported a2 Platinum Premium USA label infant formula 0-12 months (โ€œProductโ€) due to the presence of cereulide. The Product is sold only in the United States.

Cereulide is a heat-stable toxin produced by some strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus. Illness occurs through the consumption of food contaminated with the toxin and preparing formula with hot water does not eliminate it. Infants can become sick in as little as 30 minutes.
