We R Nuts of Port Washington, New York is recalling 254 Uncle Giuseppeโs branded 11oz containers of milk chocolate bridge mix, because it may contain undeclared Milk, Soy and Cashews. Last month, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent out a voluntary recall notice for cantaloupes sold by Florida-based food distributor Ayco Farms Inc. due to potential salmonella contamination. Now, the agency has updated the recall and classified it as a Class I, which is the FDA’s most serious risk category, initiated when “there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” according to the FDA’s website.
The products with potential salmonella contamination are described as fresh cantaloupe from the Ayco brand, wrapped in food-safe plastic bags, packed in corrugated cardboard cartons containing between six and 12 melons per box. Approximately 8,300 cartons were affected and distributed across four states, according to the recall notice.
The states where the potentially contaminated cantaloupes were sold include Florida, as well as Pennsylvania, California, and New York.
Raw cheddar cheese has been recalled following its connection to an E. coli outbreak, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced earlier this month. As of April 16, there are nine illnesses in connection to this outbreak, including three hospitalizations.1
