Pumpkin Juice recall update as FDA issues highest risk warning for 12 states

Walker’s Wine Juice LLC recalled its pumpkin juice in March due to possible contamination with Clostridium botulinum. FDA has elevated it to highest risk.

The original recall was initiated on March 18, and on Tuesday, the FDA gave the recall the second-highest risk level.2 Drinking apple juice contaminated with patulin can cause nausea, vomiting, and cellular damage.

Salsa Sold at Costco

This week, Costco recalled one of its popular salsa products, sold at select stores in the Northwest, 56

Costco released the recall announcement from the salsa’s producer, San Juan Salsa Co., which included seven other affected products sold at stores other than Costco due to foreign object contamination.4 The cilantro used in the salsa may contain small wood particles.

Pork Carnitas Sold at Aldi

Routine equipment checks found damage that may have contaminated the carnitas products with pieces of metal. There have been no reports of injuries in connection to the affected products, which were produced by Cargill Meat Solutions.8

FSIS did not officially recall the products because they are no longer available for sale, but the agency issued a health alert since the pork carnitas may still be in fridges or freezers. FSIS is urging consumers to throw away the affected products or return them to the store.
