Somewhere between a brownie and a cookie…
1 bag bittersweet chocolate chips (60% cacao)
6 Tablespoons butter
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
In a double boiler over hot water, melt the bittersweet chocolate chips with the butter.
In a large bowl, beat eggs with sugar until thick.
Stir in chocolate mixture.
In a small bowl, mix flour and baking powder.
Stir flour mixture into the chocolate mixture.
Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips and walnuts.
Using sheets of plastic wrap, form dough into 2 logs, about 2 inches in diameter.
Wrap tightly.
Refrigerate for at least one hour, or until firm.
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Unwrap dough.
With a sharp knife – cut into ¾ inch slices.
Place slices 1 ½ inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
Bake 12 – 14 minutes, or until shiny crust forms on top, but interior is still soft.
Cool completely on cookie sheets.
Makes 2 dozen.
Variations
Dust with powdered sugar
Use white chocolate chips instead of dark chocolate
Use peaunut butter chips
Add chopped nuts
