Imagine apple crisp baked in a pie shell and then topped with pecans and caramel…
½ cup sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
dash salt
6 cups peeled & thinly sliced apples
1 cup brown sugar, tightly packed
½ cup flour
½ cup quick cooking oats
1/2 cup butter – cold
½ cup chopped pecans
¼ cup caramel ice cream topping
Prepare single pie crust
In a large mixing bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt.
Add apples and gently toss to coat
Put into pie crust
In another bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, an oats. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle topping over apples.
Cover edge of pie crust with foil.
Bake in preheated 375 F oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes, or until top is golden.
Sprinkle with pecans and drizzle caramel topping over the top.
Cool on wire rack.
