Basic Streusel Topping

This is one of those things that can be used for dressing up all sorts of things. I sometimes drain a can of peaches, put them in a baking dish, top with this streusel topping, and bake for 10 minutes. Serve with whipped cream and you’ve got a really quick tasty dessert.

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup cold butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Optional – 1/4 cup chopped nuts

Mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.

Slice the butter.

Use a fork to cut in butter to flour mixture. It should be crumbly. Do not mix or make it creamy.

If using nuts, gently toss to mix them in.

Top whatever it is you’re making, and bake 10 minutes at 350 F. to brown topping.
