Did you know that your body has an automatic weight control, and that somehow through poor diet and chemically laced foods, it gets messed up?

It can be repaired.

The National Weight Control Registry contains 5000 people who have lost at least 30 pounds and have kept it off. It’s an interesting site – you should visit it.

One of the tests was for metabolic rate. Turns out that those listed in the registry have the same resting metabolic rate as someone who has never been obese.

They also found common characteristics among those who have successfully lost weight and kept it off –

  • They eat breakfast.

  • They eat 4-5 times a day

  • They exercise for about 1 hour a day (in total)

  • They weigh themselves often.

  • They watch less than 10 hours of television a week.
