Commonly recommended usage for preventing heart disease and stroke is 1 low dose aspirin a day. In a recent study it was found that coated aspirin is up to 20% less effective than plain old uncoated aspirin.
But it is known to damage the stomach lining and may cause bleeding.
It also is a blood thinner. You have to be careful if you are taking a precribed blood thinner.
Pregnant women should not take aspirin as it may contribute to miscarriage. Acetaminophen is the safest painkiller if you are pregnant.
