This sauce can be served with chicken, pork, duck, turkey or salmon.
1 large apple, cored and diced
1 med. Yellow onion, peeled and chopped
2 Tablespoon buttermilk
2 cups dry red wine
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground gingersnaps1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon ground mace
Pinch of ground cloves
In a large skillet, saute apple and onion in butter until the onion is transparent.
Add wine, cider vinegar, sugar, and spices.
Simmer for 5 minutes.
Serve over meat.
