12 Tablespoons butter, melted
3 cups peeled and thinly sliced tart apples
½ teaspoon salt
2/3 cups sugar
½ cup milk
1 egg
1 ½ cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Preheat oven to 375F.
Evenly spread 4 tablespoons of the melted butter over the bottom a cake pan.
Place the apples over it.
Mix the salt and ¼ cup sugar and sprinkle over the apples
Pour the remaining butter into a bowl. Add the milk and egg and beat well.
In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder, remaining sugar and remaining salt.
Stir in milk mixture and mix until smooth.
Plop 12 –1/4 cup dollops of the batter on top of the apples.Bake 35 – 45 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
If top is getting too brown, cover loosely with foil.
Cut into squares. Serve fruit side up.
