3 Time and Sanity Saving Housecleaning Habits

Clean Kitchen

You know, there are a lot of times when we don’t feel like it. Remind yourself what its like if you don’t do it. Its only a few minutes and you’re done – and you get to feel good.

Make this non-negotiable. I don’t care if you grumble all the way through, just do it. You will feel so much better when its done.

Habit #1

Put things away. We have this tendency to put things down thinking we’ll get back to it later. You know how well that works, right? The next best option is to scan through a couple times a day and put things away. If you let it go for a day or two, it becomes an overwhelming mess that you don’t want to deal with. Deal with it while its easy.

Do a quick pick up every night to catch anything left behind.

Habit #2

There is one tip that is my ultimate favorite. It is so simple to do, especially if you do it every day. And it will help you cut your housework and start every morning on a positive note.

Sound good?

Now before I tell you what it is, I want you to promise me that you will try it before you decide its BS. OK?

OK, here goes…

You are not allowed to go to bed unless the kitchen is cleaned up. If you drink coffee, set that up too.

See? I told you that you would think its stupid – but here’s the thing…

When you do it every day, it only takes a few minutes. Your kitchen stays clean. There’s no build up. Your life immediately becomes easier. You will feel your stress draining away.

But the really cool thing is how it makes you feel when you get up in the morning and walk into that clean kitchen.

Imagine walking into your clean kitchen, pouring yourself a cup of coffee, and sitting down to go over your ‘to-do’ list and planning your day.

Do you think that you would feel like you had a little more control of your life? Maybe a lot more? Would your day be off to a much more positive start?

And how great is it to come home to a clean kitchen where you can just start making a great dinner? Wouldn’t you eat healthier, lose weight, and save money?

This one stupid little tip is so valuable I can’t believe more people haven’t caught on to it. This is something you can start right away and make a big positive change in your life starting today.

Take a couple of days to practice this. Once you’ve got this down to habit,

Then Habit #3

Wipe down the bathroom every night.

I take my shower at night so I’m not so rushed in the morning. No matter when you take your shower, squeegee or wipe down the shower when you’re done to prevent water spots and soap scum build-up. Don’t forget doors and faucet.

Swish the toilet.

Do a quick clean of the mirror,

Use the paper towel to wipe down the sink and faucet, then the toilet seat and rim. Throw it away.

OK, now you can go to bed. 🙂

These habits will seriously cut the time you have to spend cleaning, and your home will look so much nicer without killing yourself.

You’re Welcome!

If nothing else, remember this- Do Not Let Build Up Happen in the First Place!

Once things get built up, just thinking about trying to tackle it is depressing. Wiping up spills before they become hardened and stained saves tons of time in the long run. Get in the habit of cleaning things up right away. You can spend a few seconds right away, or a few hours later. Make sense?
