I have a confession – I’ve been eating poorly. Yes, me.

But I have an excuse! I have been working really hard on a project. I’ve been learning new things and I will be revealing the results soon – at least I hope.

So, if I got a pizza on Friday night, I would get a large and eat it all weekend so I could focus on my work. I ate way too much pasta because its fast and cheap. I didn’t want to go out in the cold and pick up more fresh produce, so I wasn’t eating my fruits and vegetables.

And, since its been too cold to want to go out and I’ve been tied to my desk, I haven’t been getting much exercise. With all this snow, its been too cold to go out and do any sledding. I’ve picked up my resistance band maybe once a week – even though its sitting right next to my desk.

I did start doing the stairs since I wrote that last article about starting to get back in shape.  When I had to go downstairs for anything, I would go right back up and down before heading to what it was I was going down there for in the first place.

Then we had a couple of nicer days. Not great days, but enough to remind me why I live here. The ice is starting to melt, and soon (I hope)  it will be a lake again. The sunsets have been more beautiful. Its coming!

We have a gravel parking pad at the top of the hill. The snow blowers and plows send gravel all over the grass. Its a project every year. I started working on that. It felt so good to get outside and move around! But I was smarter this year. Usually I’ll go whole hog and then I hurt for a couple of days. This year I took it in small doses.

Then I was motivated to clean up my eating. I’ve been eating more spinach, salad, green beans, blueberries, and cantaloupe, drinking more water, and taking my vitamins.

Its amazing. Just a couple of days and you really do feel the difference.

Even the best fall down sometimes. Don’t let them kid you. They’re humans, not saints.

So, if you’re like me and you’ve fallen off the wagon – join me. Get back up, brush yourself off, and get back on. Let’s have a great summer! Start now so you’ll have the energy to do what you want to do.
