Doing your best vs

Don't slow up the ship^ Avoid time off^ Avoid ...

Are you driven to do your best at anything you undertake, or are you doing your best to avoid undertaking anything?

I’m always amazed at workplaces. Most people don’t want the phone to ring, or the customer to come in the door. They want to put in their 8 hours doing as little as possible. I’ve seen people standing and waiting for the clock to change to quitting time, and lickity spllit, they are clocked out and out the door.

And they wonder why they never advance.

Most everyone says that they want to be successful. What they really mean is they want everything without having to change or work hard.

And boy, the market has jumped on that with all this hocus pocus think and raise your vibrations to attract anything you want BS. Look at all of the Law of Attraction stuff on the market. And don’t forget all the instant diets – eat whatever you want, you don’t have to change…How’s that working for people?

Getting ahead still takes hard work. No one wants to hear that.

If you have a little flame inside you, read some biographies of successful people. See what they are made of. See what they went through. Are you willing to pay the price?

Would the person you want to be do what you are about to do? Would she avoid what you are trying to avoid?

Here’s the thing – if you try to do your best in everything you do, it feels so much better. There is something satisfying about giving it your best effort.

And when despite your best effort you didn’t do well enough? You try again tomorrow. Each day it gets easier. You just have to stick with it until you master it.

There was a sign I saw in a house once that said – The true test of character is what you do when you think no one is watching.

How would you measure up?

You might be thinking, “Oh there’s Carole on her holier than thou throne again.” The truth is, most of these types of posts come from something that I am personally struggling with. Its usually a pep talk to myself that might help someone else.

OK, gotta run. The Pumpkin Bread is in the oven, and I’ve got to finish my nightly clean up. I hope you have a great day!
