Today was the first 70 degree day in Chicago and northern Illinois A lot of people were out enjoying the warmth, for tomorrow will be cold. I was surprised to see how many motorcycles were out! We have to take those slices of life when they come along or miss out.

But even more people did miss out. Too busy to take 5 minutes to appreciate the beauty around them.

My neighbor came home as the sun was setting. I said, “oh good, you’ve made it in time to see the beautiful sunset.”

Oh no. She was much too busy.

I’m like, “Really? You can’t take 5 minutes?”

No, no. She was much too busy.

Its a shame. Life just passes her by.

I was sitting outside with another friend later and Venus was shining brightly in the western sky. You couldn’t miss it!

I hear you can see Jupiter in the eastern sky, but I don’t have an eastern view here. You’ll have to let me know if its spectacular. They say that if you have binoculars or a telescope, you can even see the moons of Jupiter.

If you leave early in the morning, have you noticed that the birds are back?

I’ll bet you’ve noticed that it is getting light around 6 am.

Have you noticed the buds on the trees?

My ground cover is emerging. Have you noticed any new life in your yard?

Have you noticed how far over the sunset has moved? Its almost right in front of my window. I get a beautiful view of the sunsets in the spring, summer, and even into fall. All I have to do is stop and notice.

The loons will be passing through soon. They are usually only here a day, maybe two. If you don’t stop and watch it right them, you’ll miss it.

What kind of wild life do you have in your area?

When I first moved up here, there was this really strong smell. I asked what that smell was. They looked at me sort of odd and said that its earth. The people who live here don’t even notice it. I take it in.

There are so many marvelous things going on around you. You just have to take the time to notice them. It doesn’t cost a thing. Just a few minutes of your time.

It will make you happier – I promise.
