Annual weight loss inspiration

Have you grabbed a copy of this year’s People Magazine, Half Their Size?

If you want to lose weight, you should read it. I read it every year just to see what is working for people so I can help you.

I went through this year’s issue looking for common threads. While the victors used many different programs to get there, they had these things in common –

They all drank 50 or more ounces of water a day.

They ate mostly vegetables, some fruit, and a little meat.

They all ate 5 or 6 times a day.

No fast foods or processed foods. The only exception was the people who were using a program that supplied foods, like Nutrisystem.

No bread.

No side dishes like fries, mashed potatoes, pasta, etc.

They all exercised.

No magic solutions here. Its also important to note that all but one took two or more years to lose that much weight.

I found it interesting that quite a few of them went on to be health and/or weight loss coaches.

Another good source of inspiration are the Success Stories at the National Weight Control Registry. In order to post your story there you have to have lost at least 30 pounds and kept it off for at least a year.

Its always helpful to find people who have done what you want to do, don’t you think? It makes you feel like it is possible for you.

If I had a TV, I would watch that new show –  My Diet is Better than Yours.

Hey, that’s a weight loss tip I didn’t see anywhere – get rid of your TV and get a dog! It really works. You can ask my sister. They’ve lost a lot of weight since getting their dog.
