The music lyrics police, and the inventor of the Internet are getting a divorce.
OK, now that I think about it, they are both royal pains. After 40 years of each of them taking strong stands, you gotta get tired.
Its just sad when your icons can’t make it either. Whether you like them or not, they were the shining example of the religious, activist, loving, and as close to perfect couple as you could get. Is there no hope for us mere mortals?

I’m back from vacation. When I read that yesterday I felt so sad that a couple married for 40 years wouldn’t put more effort in to get that zing back in their marriage.
My husband and I are celebrating our 25th this summer and I don’t want to end up like the Gores- apart. This is a wakeup call to me that even long-term marriages can grow apart if both people don’t put effort in consistently.
I will always remember Al and Tipper Gore’s kiss at the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles.
