Skinny people eat a lot

Eating is often made into a social occasion.Image via Wikipedia

I was at a meeting today and again, my point was proven.

The skinny people ate a good lunch.

The heavier people didn’t.

That doesn’t seem to make sense, does it? But I see it all the time.

I offered the girl next to me some of my lunch – which she glady accepted. She said she was going out for dinner tonight, so she didn’t want to eat too much.

So many people seem to believe that if you only eat one meal, that you’ll lose weight. I absolutely guarantee you won’t.

People think that skinny people can eat what ever they want, and that’s true to an extent. But it’s what they eat, when they eat, and how they compensate for those ‘dinners out’ that makes all the difference.

In other words, if a skinny person started eating like a fat person, even thought it would probably not be any more calories than they normally eat, they would get fat. Am I making sense here?

So say you want to lose weight. Starting tomorrow – eat 3 full meals and 2 snacks throughout the day. That’s right. Eat 5 times a day. You will change how your metabolism burns the food.

OK, one bit about calories. You can’t eat 1000 or more calories at every sitting. That’s just common sense, right? I’m not telling you to load up on fast food 3 times a day and eat hostess cupcakes for snacks. A snack can be fruit, or yogurt, or baked crackers and cheese, or peanut butter…

Oh sure, there’s more to it than just that. But I can’t put the whole book up here on the blog.
