Between summer fun an summer food – this is the easiest time to lose weight! The cool thing about summer food is that most of it really doesn’t require cooking. The grill makes it easy to make wonderful food without heating up the kitchen – and making few dishes.
Most nights we keep it simple – grill a piece of chicken, fish, or steak, and make a big salad. The fresh vegetables are soooo good! Top it off with some cool sweet melon and you have a wonderfully satisfying meal, and hardly any dishes.
And you don’t have to feel the least bit guilty when you load up on fresh fruits and vegetables!
I was in the store today. Watermelon was on sale. Cantaloupe was on sale. Green beans were on sale. So much good food!
The other great thing about summer foods is they will leave you with more energy to enjoy summer evenings. It would be a real shame to be sitting in the house in front of the TV when the weather is great.
Did you know that just taking a walk every day is a great way to stay healthy, lose weight, and reduce stress? I love after dinner walks in the summer. Makes me think about getting another dog.
And you gotta take advantage of great summer evenings. We don’t get a lot of those! Do you have a pool (or a friend’s pool) where you can splash around a little after dinner?
And there’s fairs and festivals where you can walk your butt off. Get some exercise and have some fun. At night its been bearable outside, so you can take in outdoor concerts that will be in abundance over the next few weeks.
Exercise doesn’t have to be hours sweating in a gym. It can be fun.
Still too hot for you? The mall and museums are cool.
Get out and have some fun. Its the best exercise! And take full advantage of all the great fresh foods you can get this time of year. Its the best prescription for losing weight that I know of. Wouldn’t you agree?
