Not to get preachy, but there is a good reason why I harp on you to get the house cleaning system and stop spending your weekends cleaning. Or even worse, choosing to live in slum conditions because you want to have fun. You can have the best of both worlds… a clean house and time to enjoy life!
We finally got a nice Memorial Day weekend!
OK, Friday it did rain again, but not enough to put a damper on our little get together. I spent time with my sister, niece, her son, my daughter and her husband. Nothing special, just hanging out. That’s special enough, right?
No real plans Saturday. I did the seasonal clothing switch over. Washed the sweaters and coats and packed them away. I’m ready for warm weather!
I made myself a batch of fajitas. I treated myself to fajitas and beer.
Sunday I was at a fund raiser for the lake I used to live on. I still hang out and help out. It was good to see many people you don’t see when everyone is tucked in their houses all winter.
My assignment was to help out with the meat raffle. I hear we broke the record.
The weather was great. The food was OK. We had roast pig, roast chicken, salad, roasted potatoes, sauerkraut. The chicken and salad were good. I hear if you like sauerkraut that its really good. I just don’t like it.
I was pretty tired when I got home. All that fresh lake air and walking around. But the dog hadn’t been walked. More walking!
Monday was just a hang around day. I had planned to make a vegetable garden, but the dog would eat everything. So I would have to do raised beds and probably still have t fence it off. So I thought I would look for an old table and put planters on it.
At Goodwill they had a changing table that I thought could be used as a potting table. But for this year, I opted for a cheap table that would serve the purpose. I’m going to keep that changing table idea in mind though. You could store your pots, tools, and what not on the shelves. Oh, maybe I should have just gotten that! That’s what I get for being cheap.
But the point is, I was able to do whatever I wanted to do. I didn’t do any housework other than the nightly wipe down – and I don’t have to be embarrassed about how the house looks if someone stops over.
And I wondered why we wait for a holiday to get out and enjoy life? Its important to have relaxation, recreation, and spend time with family and friends. Isn’t that really what life is about? Isn’t that why we work so hard? So we can enjoy life?
I’m guilty. How about you?
Note to self – Make more time for Life!
