Fresh Green Beans

Wash and cut the tips off fresh green beans. I cut long ones in half.


Place about ½ inch of water in a pan. Add green beans. If you have a steamer basket, that’s even better.


Bring to boil.


Reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat for about 10 – 15 minutes until beans are crisp-tender. Do not overcook.


Drain water.


Throw in just enough butter to lightly coat green beans.


Salt very sparingly.


You can throw in almond slivers to dress them up a bit.


Some people like garlic added. If using garlic, add before cooking.

You can use either fresh minced garlic, or garlic powder. (fresh has

the added health benefits). We like to keep things simple.
