 Chili or hot peppers are a main source of Capsaicin - a powerful antioxidant that has blood thinning properties, lowers cholesterol, fights carcinogens, and releases endorphins (mood enhancing).

Capsaicin is also thought to have pain killing properties and is a popular natural ingredient in pain creams.  

Some people feel that hot peppers increase your metabolism, though it isn't scientifically proven at this point.
