Scientists at the Washington University School of Medicine in St, Louis found that resveratrol is able to prevent the out-of-control blood-vessel growth (angiogenesis) in the eyes that leads to age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

But even more exciting for those already suffering with these diseases is that when researchers gave resveratrol to mice with irregular blood vessels in their eyes the abnormal blood vessels actually began to disappear!

So the phytochemical not only does shows great promise as a preventive therapy to keep new irregular blood vessels from forming but also is able to eliminate the abnormal vessels that have already begun to develop.

It's this same ability that makes scientists believe that resveratrol actually cuts of the blood supply to tumors – starving them to death.

So go ahead and hoist that glass of red wine with dinner. Eat more fresh raw grapes, cranberries, blueberries, and peanuts. Cooking and processing removes many of the nutrients.
