Don’t you just love the first day back after a holiday weekend?
Doesn’t the short week feel longer than ever?
Why is that?
I don’t know if I told you, but my house cleaning sister broke her arm a few months back. I’ve been working a lot for her. She has a part time girl who has been working closer to full time, kind of. She calls off pretty much every Monday. Of course she called off today. 2 of us did 4 houses. We got home a little after 4. Not bad – but I’m tired!
The house got trashed over the weekend. Youngest boy had a party Saturday night. Which meant not much sleep. When I got up, there was a body on the couch, another one on a recliner, cans and bottles and cups all over the house… Youngest son was face down on the couch in the family room with his feet on the floor.
Bob must have heard me. He got up and started looking around. I just said, “have fun with that” and went back to bed for a couple of hours. Then I got up and went to my daughter’s house. I wasn’t dealing with it.
We had a really nice day. You know its always going to be active. After a nice lunch, we went shopping for a dress for her. Mission accomplished!
Then they took me to a place called Waterfall Glen –
Isn’t that cool? You can walk across it. There were a lot of people in the water down stream. There are all kinds of trails. Very cool place. I’m looking forward to going back there. Hopefully with a full night’s sleep next time.
Then she made us a nice dinner. Then we walked the dog. There is this cool fountain near their apartment where he proposed to her –
I could feel the crash coming. She made a big travel mug of coffee for me and I set out for the hour drive home.
Monday, I didn’t do much of anything.
I didn’t stress about the house. Bob had cleaned up the cans and bottles and did the dishes. I did sweep the laminate floors. I have my rituals – I clean up the kitchen and wipe down the bathroom every night. The rest will get done on its regular day. The house really does stay pretty clean without a lot of effort. (Here’s how…)
Now all we have to do is make it through the rest of the week…
