Its the second weekend of fall. Cold weather and holidays will be here before you know it. During the next couple weeks its time to buckle down and get a few things done before the cold weather rears its ugly head!
- Wash the windows
- Clean up gardens
- Rake leaves
- Treat the lawn
- Test your heat
- Change the filter
- Get the car winter-ready – Change oil, check fluids, tire pressure, tire wear, wiper blades, fill window washer fluid, and listen for any weird noises.
- Wash coats, scarves, etc. if you didn’t last spring.
- Clean carpets
- Check all batteries – smoke alarms, alarm clocks, thermostats, etc.
- Process any fresh foods you are going to be storing.
I’m still doing the pumpkin thing Of course there will be fresh pumpkin bread, and pumpkin pancakes, and pumpkin seeds… I’ve already had someone say, “I sure could have used some pumpkin bread today!” And then pumpkin pie during the holidays of course.
Why don’t you join us? Get to a farmers market or pumpkin patch and pick up a bunch of baking pumpkins. They are the smaller ones. Then head over to our Pumpkin Patch to learn how to process pumpkins – the easy way, and then make delicious goodies. This weird tradition might catch on in your family too.
