Not being able to do much else, it was a good day to catch up on some webinar recordings that I hadn’t gotten to. There were business, self improvement, and time management.

One of the themes that kept appearing was finding your ‘genius.’ What is it that you are so good at that you do it without even thinking about it?

Would you believe that you can make money from that?

Years ago, a guy named Frank Kern came up with an ebook about teaching your parrot to talk. He made a bunch of money with that ebook.

It was because of his coaching that I put together Secret Confessions of a Clean Freak. I’ve never had the money or the guts to follow through on the adwords part of is formula and make millions, but 7 years later, this ebook is still selling.

Who would think that my claim to fame would be house cleaning and making real dinners fast?

What are you good at? As you can see, it can be something you would never even think of. Maybe ask your friends what they think you’re good at. You’ll be surprised what they come up with.

Are you good at quick books? Digital photography? Making Facebook fanpages? Installing paneling? Social Security Disability? People will pay you to teach them all kinds of things.

With all the ebook readers, its clear that there will be a market for ebooks for many years to come.  I have a couple that I need to finish…

When I finally got around to opening Friday’s newspaper, I thought all those flyers were for Black Friday already – but no! They were for this last weekend! Is that incredible?

I am so glad I don’t work in the mall anymore.

But it got me to thinking. I know a lot of you have businesses. While other blogs are getting spammed with people putting up their links, you guys are pretty quiet. (Don’t get me wrong – we get plenty of spam comments. They just get deleted.)

In this economy, people are looking for ways to make money. I think it would be great to see what everyone is doing, don’t you?

Make Your Own Solar Panels

I was surfing around looking for some ways to make some extra money when I stumbled upon this site that has step-by-step plans for making your own solar panels and windmills. It says that you can build one of these portable panels for less than $200, and you can run all of your appliances off of it. That’s weird and interesting. Saving money on your utility bills is always a good thing. My neighbor and I have discussed the possibilty of putting up a windmill between us since the Chipolte Grill opened up locally. They use a windmill to power the restaurant.

I got to thinking that someone who is handy could probably make some cash building this stuff for people. It’s supposed to be the next big thing since money is tight and utilities have gone up so much – and we want to be concerned about the earth and resources too, right?

This could be a lucrative career for the right person.

Save money, make money. If you’re a little handy, and you have someplace where you can work on this stuff – it could be a good idea, you think?
