lose weight
A friend of mine said she was finally convinced to open a Facebook account – and there, staring her in the face was yet another Oprah endorsed diet plan.
We laughed at how the biggest diet failure could possibly be a credible endorsement for any diet plan.
My friend said, those poor women who will try plan after plan – thinking it’s going to work because Oprah’s name is attached.
Now please don’t get me wrong. We Love Oprah. I have incredible respect for this woman and what she has accomplished – except when it comes to weight loss.
Hey Oprah, I live in the Chicago area. Just contact me and I’ll show you how to finally get the weight off, and keep it off for good.
Hey, I might just be a single mom – not some big TV Doctor, but I know what I’m talking about, and I’ll prove it!

Super-Foods
I asked my daughter what kind of fruit she might like this week. She said cantaloupe. UGH, no more cantaloupe for a while!
She said, OK, watermelon, kiwi, strawberries and bananas. I had to ask, right?
Since I’ve already written about watermelon, I looked up kiwi. It didn’t make my superfood list. That doesn’t mean that it’s not nutritious, it just wasn’t in the super category.
So, let’s go on to strawberries. They’re pretty amazing.
Strawberries increase memory and protect your brain from age related decline.
Helps body get rid of excess fluids.
And talk about anti-oxidant - They also protect normal cells from cancer, and help kill cancer cells. One study showed that strawberries or black raspberries dramatically reduced the growth of precancerous esophageal cells and tumors.
Eat one cup of fresh or frozen berries per week. You can handle that, can’t you? Yum! Go ahead, put whipped cream on them! Seriously. It’s OK. Go back to this post and see why.
Have a berry good weekend!
I know – groan…
This is the kind of information you can find inside High Energy Eating by the way…

Misc. Stuff
That was the subject line of an email from Mike Huckabee today. You might remember him as a common sense presidential candidate. But the dog and pony shows always win, don’t they?
In his post, he has an earful for democrats and republicans alike.
I’ve been disgusted with this whole election thing for months – and now this bailout wall street crooks thing? I’ve always said wall street should be outlawed!
But to see that same level of disgust come from a political candidate was actually quite refreshing. OK, ex- candidate. Or is he?…
Anyway – here’s the link to the post. Read it and see why I thought he was the best candidate.

Is it too late to put in someone who will actually fix our problems? And stand up for us for a change?

Misc. Thoughts
This was going to be a wonderfully productive day – or so I thought.
My new hard drive was supposed to be here today. My computer is so overloaded, it will hardly do anything. Remember the old days where you could click and go to lunch? It’s almost that bad.
So I ordered that hot new external hard drive everyone is raving about. Office Depot had it on sale for $89.99 – and free delivery. But I was really disappointed when it didn’t come today.
Then, there were a couple of things I intended to do today, and I suddenly backed out on both of them. I’m not sure why, but I figure I’ll wait until I feel better about it.
Don’t get me wrong, the day wasn’t a total wash. I got other pesky work done. It’s just when things don’t go the way you plan, you have to reconfigure your brain.
I was reading some of the stuff about the economic bailout. Boy, that’s encouraging, isn’t it? NOT!
You know, if you have a blog about parenting, or lifestyle, or diet, or even some aspect of time management – there is an affiliate program for my products. And I will be adding at least one more line of products in the near future that I’m pretty excited about.
It’s not a big time program, I mean, the whole company is just me. But I have a couple of people who have said that they’ve made more money with my rinky dink program than with any other. If you’re interested in making a few bucks, you can find the CommonSenseLiving Affiliate Program here >>>
I’m off to finish up a few things before hitting the sack. I’ll be glad when this week is over. How about you?
At least the weather’s been great. Last few days to enjoy… We won’t be seeing any more 80 degree days this year.
I guess that means we’d better get it in gear and get to work. The holidays will be here in a flash!
OK, I’m signing off…

healthy eating,
lose weight
I was having a conversation with someone about how awful instant food tastes, and how it makes no sense to me that people would eat that stuff when you can make real food that tastes good - just as fast, if not faster.
And even when it takes a little longer – fresh real stuff always tastes better.
Pizzeria pizza
Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies
Real hot chocolate
And homemade anything, pretty much, right? Soups, stews, spaghetti sauce, …
I have a girlfriend who used to make a red velvet cake. It was awesome. She doesn’t make it from scratch anymore
I guess it’s a real mess to make. I’ll tell you, the box stuff doesn’t come close.
Instant is never as good.
And then you see stories all of the time about people who became instantly wealthy, usually by winning the lottery. Most of them have nothing left within 5 years. But the people who have built their wealth over the years usually hold on to it. And even if they lost it, they have the skills to rebuild. What are your chances of winning the lottery – a second time?
Then, I saw an ad for an instant weight loss product. While it’s true that you can lose weight quickly, it never stays off using these products, and many times may cause health problems. I mean, how many times have you lost and put back on the same weight?
But the people who take a year to lose the weight usually keep it off. I’ve seen it time and time again.
I had a girlfriend who lost the weight by giving up dessert.
I lost the weight by eating healthier – making sure to get my fruits and vegetables in every day. I lost even more weight when I quit drinking.
Another girlfriend lost the weight by increasing her fruits and vegetables, and eating more throughout the day instead of doing all of her eating when she got home late at night.
My daughter found it easier to control her weight if she gave up pop.
Another lady I talk to lost the weight by increasing her vegetables and walking the mall everyday. She actually stopped walking everyday because she said she’s lost too much weight.
All of these are principles of healthy eating.
Just eat healthier and get a little exercise - and within a year – most people will level off to their natural body weight (of course, depending on how much weight you need to lose.) No dieting required.
And you don’t have to give up dessert! Just eat a piece of cake, not the whole cake
It may not be instant, but it’s glorious in the long run.
