Having the Energy to Accomplish Anything

Posted under Diet & Health

OK, this is a follow-up to yesterdays post.

You see, it occurred to me that there are additional things that keep you from accomplishing major things – and the one that tops the list is not enough energy.

‘I’m too tired.’

Most people are eating a diet full of fast foods and packaged foods with little nutritional value. You think you’re saving time, but what happens is you waste hundreds of hours every year just because you’re too tired to do anything.

You can’t expect a high performance machine to run without the right fuel, right? I mean, your Lexus requires Premium gasoline. But people try to run their bodies on corn syrup and chemicals.

Listen, I’m Over 50, a single mom, working full time AND building a business, take care of house, beach, and gardens, walk dog at least 1 mile a day preferably 2… never hospitalized except for childbirth, and take no meds.

Want to try to catch up to me? Better start eating some better fuel…

How to Accomplish Anything

Posted under Motivational

I’m in the final stages of a major project. But it’s the final stages that are the most overwhelming. I know what I need to do – but there’s so many things I need to do. How on earth will I ever get this all done?

Are you like me? Do you have a dream that you’ve been puttering with for years, but you’ve never really seemed to put much of a dent in it?

Are you frustrated and feeling like it will never happen?

Don’t give up. The work that you’ve been doing has been quietly laying the foundation. You’re farther along than you think.

You see, many of us are striving for a dream, but we don’t really know what the outcome looks like. We’ve never seen or experienced it. We know in vague terms what we want to accomplish, but we don’t really know what the final outcome should look like. How could you?

As you study and try different things, you learn what works for you, and what doesn’t. You start putting pieces together, and you make mistakes. Lord knows I’ve made thousands.

And then suddenly - one day you can see the big picture…

And how much work it’s going to be.

It’s at this point that most people run.

It’s overwhelming. It’s scary. What if you can’t do it? What if it all falls apart? Fears circle like vultures.

OK, Get A Grip!

Figure out what you need to do.

Break it down into small chunks that you can do daily.

Now figure out how long it should reasonable take you to finish this, and double it. If you think you should be able to finish this work, working a little bit everyday, in 30 days, make it 60 days. That will give you a little comfort zone and reduce your stress a little.

Mark that date on your calendar. Mine is August 1.

Write that date down on a piece of paper or post it note and put it on your desk where you can see it every day.

Have a to-do list every day with at least one task, preferably 3. Some life coaches will tell you to have 5 or 6 tasks on your list. But the key is to make sure that it’s work that you can reasonably expect to be able to get done.  I really mean to make those tasks small enough that you can’t make excuses for not getting them done. I think 3 is perfect, and then if you can accomplish more on any give day – go for it. Some days you will. I think you’ll find a commitment of 3 is plenty to try to fit in to your already busy life. It’s got to be a plan you can stick with and see it through.

If you don’t happen to get a task done, make sure it’s top of the list for tomorrow.

Do this religiously every day.

If you are truly committed – you can do it. Don’t keep making excuses – make your plan and stick to it – no matter how afraid you feel.

One bite at a time.

The Most Functional English Word …

Posted under Misc. Stuff

I needed a laugh when this pass around email came in – Just thought I’d share… J

Hope This Makes You Smile
The Most Functional English Word

Well, it’s shit … that’s right , shit!
Shit may just be the most functional word in the English language.

You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit, and tell others to eat shit.

Some people know their shit, while others can’t tell the difference between shit and shineola.

There are lucky shits, dumb shits, and crazy shits. There is bull shit, horse

shit, and chicken shit.

You can throw shit, sling shit, catch shit, shoot the shit, or duck when the shit hits the fan.

You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle.

You can find yourself in deep shit or be happier than a pig in shit.

Some days are colder than shit, some days are hotter than shit, and some days are just plain shitty.

Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit, and there are times when you feel like shit.

You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit.

You can carry shit, have a mountain of shit, or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.

Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose.

When you stop to consider all the facts, it’s the basic building block of the English language.

And remember, once you know your shit, you don’t need to know anything else!!

You could pass this along, if you give a shit; or not do so if you don’t give a shit!

Well, Shit, it’s time for me to go. Just wanted you to know that
I do give a shit and hope you had a nice day, without a bunch of shit. But, if you happened to catch a load of shit from some shit-head………..

Well, Shit Happens!!!

I hope your day isn’t…

Sorry about the formatting - it didn’t copy well - Hope it made you laugh anyway!

Housework - one thing leads to another…

Posted under House Cleaning

Did you ever notice that sometimes you can’t just do one thing? That one thing just leads to another, and another, and another?

I had one of those episodes tonight.

The dog is shedding. The cats aren’t shedding much yet. So nice of them to take turns. But anyway…

I brushed another bucket of fur off hyper dog – which is another exercise all in itself. He should be bald by now!

So, then I had to vacuum – myself first, then the furniture because I don’t want people to have hairy butts when they sit on my furniture. Nice of me, isn’t it?

Then the carpet.

Then the comforters on the beds, and the bedrooms.

Then the tile floors.

And while I’m at it, might as well wash the floors.

Why would I do that on Friday night instead of watching the CSI marathon?

So the house is ready for the weekend.

That’s when most people are home. Why leave the housework for time when you’re supposed to be relaxing and enjoying yourself?

Since it’s the time when people will be in the house more, it’s important to remove allergens.

Guests won’t be afraid to eat in your house.

Oh yeah, and people won’t have hairy butts.

It only took about an hour. I could still catch some CSI if I really wanted to.

And I don’t have to worry about it over the weekend.

I’ll be buying and planting more flowers, and cooking, and relaxing.

Whatever you’re doing, I hope you have a great weekend!

Carole

A typical morning

Posted under Misc. Stuff

If I weren’t organized and disciplined, I would die - I swear.

I got up late this morning.

The dog was moaning to go out.

The cats were squawking to be fed.

The coffee pot wasn’t set in the holder correctly, so it was overflowing.

My boss was calling on the phone with a question.

It was only 45 degrees when I took the dog out.

Besides all of the goose poop, there was the biggest pile of poop I had ever seen in my life. I don’t know what left it! Between the cats, the dog, the geese and the wildlife, you could say my life is full of crap :-)

I bought some really pretty petunias to plant - but it’s still too cold to realy enjoy being outdoors. I’ll still have to get them in the ground, but it won’t be much fun having to do it bundled up.

There’s tons of little dead fish. Usually it’s warm enough to get in the water and clean it up by now. Ok, myabe not tons, probably more like a dozen - it just feels like tons.

I guess I’ll throw in some laundry and get on with my day.

I hope your morning went a little smoother!
