Diet & Health You may have heard a diagnoses for A.D.D., A.D.H.D., bi-polar disorder, diabetes as being caused by a chemical imbalance. What’s the answer? Bring it back into balance with a pill, right?
No one seems to question it. Everyone just seems to think that this ‘chemical imbalance’ just happens, through no fault of their own. And logically, a pill should restore the balance, right? It’s just common sense. Or is it?
Now, kindly Doctor could just tell you that ‘chemical imbalance’ really means nutrient deficiency, or to put it more bluntly – your diet is killing you. He could tell you to go home and fix the problem.
Except for two things.
You probably won’t, and if you did, he wouldn’t make any money. Do healthy people go to the doctor? Not usually. Do they take expensive prescription meds? Of course not. But since he knows it’s a pretty safe bet that you wouldn’t follow the advice anyway – it’s just as easy for both of you to just prescribe the pill. You have an easy excuse, and he makes money from both your visits, and from drug company kick backs.
Everyone is making all sorts of noise about “Big Pharma” and the FDA. But you know what? They’re just giving you what you want. “Fix my problem with an easy pill, and don’t make me change anything. I’m perfectly happy eating lab food that tastes like greasy cardboard as long as I don’t have to go to any effort. So keep those pills coming.”
Remember, Only You Can Prevent Healthcare Abuse.
Fix your diet and you’ll help fix the system.

Diet & Health Hey, how about China executing the head of their version of the FDA? Think that tactic would improve food safety in this country too? You kill millions, we kill you. Kind of extreme. Americans on the other hand, are extreme on the other side. The majority of Americans just sit by and let stuff happen.
My daughter was commenting about someone the other day. She said that he was too much into all this environmental stuff – global warming, sheesh, he even drives a Prius. Then she asked, “does it really make any difference?”
Look at the flooding in China (China is a real hotbed this week, isn’t it?) and tell me if it matters.
But it seems to me that extremism rules.
Either you’re way out there for a cause, or you choose to ignore it.
Either you eat really healthy, or you totally don’t care, or you’re so obsessed that you don’t allow yourself to enjoy anything.
Either you drink like a fish, or you’re a total tee-totaler.
And the stuff these kids are doing to their bodies! I’m astounded at the pictures of freaks and demons she showed me. Oh my gosh.
It’s like everyone has to be overboard in everything they do. What ever happened to moderation? Self Control? Common Sense?
I’m constantly getting comments about the way I eat. Yep, I eat sweets. Sometimes I’ll even eat fried chicken, or French fries. They ask how can I talk about eating healthy when I don’t eat so healthy myself? Yet, my daughter complains that I’m such a freak about healthy eating, and eating fruits and vegetables. Both sides taking an extreme view. The truth is, I’m in the middle. Moderation.
If you eat enough good, you can eat some bad and still be ok.
The whole key to staying healthy and still enjoying life is moderation. Once you get that, you’ll be a lot happier.

Diet & Health,
Diet and kids Behavior problems, and life long healthy problems, and even your ability to think clearly all start with what you eat. Getting adults to eat right is hard enough - but how in the world do you get your kids to eat right so they have the best start to a long healthy life? Most people struggle with getting their kids to eat healthy. But it doesn’t have to be a struggle. Here’s what’s worked for me –
1. Eat healthy yourself – they learn from you.
2. Put out lots of food choices and let them taste different foods.
3. Don’t force them to eat something they don’t like. Just ask that they taste new foods. Most kids will accommodate if you start them early. And if they know you won’t force them to eat it if they don’t like it, they’ll be more willing to take the plunge!
4. Remember that kid’s taste change seemingly overnight. Just because they didn’t like it one time doesn’t mean they won’t like it the next time.
5. If you like it, put it out. When they see you enjoying something, they’re more curious.
6. Kids like simpler foods. They’ll eat a hamburger with nothing on it, or a salad with no dressing. You don’t have to be a world class chef.
7. Rather than talking to your kids about how healthy the food is, talk about how great it tastes. They turn off to the notion of healthy eating just the way you do. But if you’re eating it because it tastes really good, you’ll all be a lot happier – and healthier just happens.
Nothing is better than a great example. If you know a lot about foods, and you eat a lot of different foods, kids will naturally learn from you. How can you learn about healthy food?
By the way - These tips also work on adults!
