Inspiration for living a better life

Posted under inspiration

I’m passing on a message from a fellow reader -

———————————————-
Hi Carole,

Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your “Contemplations” this week. As a student of “Whole Life Overhaul” and the power of positive thinking in general, I want to add a wish that my fellow readers take what you have to say to heart. The most powerful tool ever created is the mind. And, as you say, we can accomplish amazing things just by using that power.

Right now, as you know, I’m involved in the battle of my life against an opponent called cancer. The lessons I learned in “Whole Life Overhaul” are serving me well. Years ago, given this diagnosis, I would have rolled over and let it have its way. Today, it’s going to have to fight hard to defeat me. The difference is that today I know I have a choice. I can look upon this disease as the sure victor or I can acknowledge the power I’ve been given ~ to control how I live my life. I choose not to live it in the shadow of cancer but, instead, in the rays of sunshine called hope. I don’t sit around crying about my diagnosis, I try to learn something positive from the experiences this disease has brought to me. Then, I use that to make myself stronger.  We can all do that, no matter what our personal opponent is.

What you say is important . . . Positive thinking CAN change your life.

Blessings . . .
Linda

Thanksgiving Frenzy

Posted under Holidays

I just finished the last shopping for the big
Thanksgiving Dinner - all the veggies.

You know, it may seem like I make the same
things year after year. Guess what? I do.
Every year I think I might change something -
and someone always says, “oh, you’re going to
make my glazed carrots, aren’t you?” “You’re
making your sweet potatoes, aren’t you?”

Ok, something new for Thanksgiving. I had
a couple of requests for broccoli salad.

I was going to skip the cranberry jello. The
grocery store nearest me is out of cranberries.
Can you believe it? I was going to wimp out and
just put out the gell stuff. But my mouth waters
when I think about the jello. Sigh.

Oh Well. The house is clean. The shopping is done.
I make everything fresh, so there is no real prep
work to do. I’m as done as I can be right now - except
for a couple loads of laundry. So … I guess I’ll
go out and get the stuff to make the jello. Gotta
have it!

And I’ll be pumping people full of healthy food.
They don’t even realize it ;-) They just know it
tastes good!

You can still pick up your Thanksgiving Survival
Guide
for a couple of days. All of the recipes
are in it too.

I’m off to enjoy this beautiful day. I hope you
have a great one too!

Eat healthy today, get your prep work done and get
a good night’s sleep tonight. That’s half the battle!

Miracles on Your Thanksgiving Table

Posted under Holidays, Super-Foods

I love Thanksgiving Dinner. Tons of great food.
And guess what? Most of it is really healthy
food. When else can you cram people full of
great healing foods and have them love it?

Here’s one miracle food you can put out -

Cranberries
Reduce cholesterol, and flushes bacteria that
causes urinary tract infections.

May also help reduce dental plaque and the bacteria
that causes stomach and intestinal ulcers.

Contains flavonoids called oligomeric proanthocyanidins
or OPCs. These help stop the oxidation of bad cholesterol.

They may also help prevent plaque build up in the arteries,
which helps ward off heart disease, stroke, and varicose
veins.

Cranberries have the highest antioxidants of any fruit.
That means they ad in preventing heart disease, cancer,
make your skin look great, and so much more. I know people
who drink cranberry juice to prevent leg cramps.

If you’re looking for a miracle food, drink cranberry
juice every day and just see what happens.

Load up your Holiday table with lots of great tasting
healing foods. All they need to know is that it tastes
great!

Have a great day :-)

Misinformation is killing us

Posted under Diet & Health

I received an email last night from a publisher
who had really good intentions. He was passing
on mainstream information that everyone has
come to believe. And It’s Dangerous.

The article attempted to convince people
to eat soy burgers instead of hamburgers. I’ve
asked him to retract the article and we’ll see
what happens.

Now, if you’ve read this blog, you know that
the World Heatlh Organization has issued a
health warning about our over-consumption of
female hormones - and one source of the overload
is soy.

And, there is an increase in health problems due
to vitamin deficiences. Like it or not, our body
is designed to need meat. Sorry, we’re human.

But getting people to let go of long held beliefs
is tough.

It is your job to take care of your body. When you
see information - be sure to check it out. Don’t
just accept it. It may kill you.

Take Care of Yourself!

Addicted to Miracle Tea

Posted under Super-Foods, healthy eating

OK, so I’m a late comer to the green tea trend. I’ve never
been a tea lover. And really, it tastes pretty good. But
it’s miracle qualities is what’s getting me addicted.

Here’s an exerpt about green tea from the food guides
contained in High Energy Eating

‘Green Tea
Polyphenols (heart disease, stroke and cancer), and antioxidants.
Make sure to dunk your tea bag a few times to release more of
the antioxidants into the water. Drinking Green or black tea
with a high fat meal reduces some of the artery clogging. The
antioxidants help keep your blood vessels open. It also contains
theanin, which is shown to reduce stress. Green tea may even
rejuvenate dying skin cells.

Green and black teas also may increase your immune system
to fight infection. Green tea contains EGCG, which stops the
adenovirus (cold virus) from reproducing. At the first sign of
a cold, drink green tea.

Green Tea also contains L-Theanine. I’ve seen Green Tea
from China called ‘one of the oldest calming mood-stabilizers
known to man’. Theanine increases dopamine production in
the brain. This helps improve your focus, concentration,
learning, and memory - all without the jitters many people
get from coffee.

It is believed that the natural phytochemicals in green tea may
help prevent and repair damage to cells and may inhibit the
ability of carcinogens to damage cells. A study done in China
observed a group of women with ovarian cancer. The study
found that the women who drank at least 1 cup of green tea
per day were twice as likely to survive the cancer.

And, green tea increases your metabolism, helping your burn
more fat. ‘

OK, I don’t need anything else that speeds up my metabolism -
but everything else about this super food are great reasons
to get addicted. Make my skin look better, I can think better,
be in a better mood, prevent cancer, cure colds, sheesh.

I’m always trying to add more super-foods to my diet - and
this one will be a staple!

My daughter was suprised to see green tea in the pantry.
She tells me she knows people are drinking green tea to
remove traces of drugs in their systems in case of
a drug test. I don’t know about that one. And I’m a little
upset that my 14 year old daughter would be having
conversations like that. But she’s always interested in
what foods do, so that’s a good thing.

As a matter of fact, there are 111 listings in the ’super-food’
section of High Energy Eating. And none of them are tofu or
weird foods you can only buy in health food stores.

Stay tuned. I’ll be leaking more reasons to get addicted to
healthy eating.

Talk to you soon.
