Happy Halloween

Posted under Holidays

It’s a busy day for anyone with small kids, isn’t it?
I was very lucky when my daughter was younger
and needed mom to come along for trick-or-treating.
I was able to get off every halloween - and even then,
it was a flurry of activity. But fun, if you just can get
yourself to relax and go with the flow.

It helps to have something ready for dinner that you
can throw on the table in a few minutes.

If you’re home today, you can cook up some chicken
breasts and shred them for barbeque chicken sandwiches.
Have salad fixings ready to throw together - and maybe
some cut up fruit.

Spaghetti is always a good choice too. Make it with green
noodles today!

So are things like porkchops, steaks, or chicken breasts
that you can season and saute in like 10 minutes.

Raw fruits and vegetables are always a life saver.
No cooking! Just throw it together.

Black olives were always a favorite on halloween.
A fun food. Sticking them on your fingers and then
eating them off one by one.

It’s pretty cold here today, so I imagine trick or treating
will be a short lived activity. Hot chocolate will be mandatory!
Making real hot chocolate with 2% milk really only takes a
couple minutes longer - and tastes so much better.
Especially topped with real whipped cream :)
Don’t forget to check all of the candy. You never know
where some sicko will show up.

Oh, and leave some chocolate for the kids ;)
Have a fun and safe day!

Talk to you soon -

Government Protection

Posted under Diet & Health, Misc. Thoughts

Happy Monday!

The Elections are here. Oh Goodie. Don’t the love having
to choose the lesser evil?

Over the weekend, I was reading some of the political
candidates information in the papers. A big part of the
discussion had to do with health care costs, and how
does the government handle the skyrocketing health
care costs? I thought to myself, why are we having this
conversation in the first place?

The reason is - people need the government to protect
them from themselves.

A couple of candidates actually did mention increasing
preventative programs. That’s a great idea, but it won’t
work.

When you have 60% of the population overweight, and
by my experience - I think 90% who refuse to eat right,
it’s obvious to me that people would rather continue to
kill themselves through diet than change.

Everyone knows that they need to eat 5-7 servings of
fruits and vegetables, at a minimum.

What would happen if everyone were actually doing that?

We would have less heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and
all the other horrid diseases that are skyrocketing.

And if people were to actaully eat a healthy dinner with
their families on a regular basis - we would have less
learning problems, less gangs and violence, more self
confident, smarter, and healthier kids.

But that’s not the case, is it?

No, we have people insisting on stuffing themselves on
fast food and packaged foods, refusing to eat healthy foods,
and them complaining that they can’t afford the health-
care costs that come with it.

So, as a taxpayer, how much money do you want to pay into
the health care pool, when theses problems could be easily
solved at home?

Like everything else, there are 2 sides to the story.

So, we have established that the population is weak
and has no self-control or self discipline and requires the
government to protect them from themselves. In this case,
that would be the FDA. They approve all this stuff that’s
in these fake foods that is killing off the population. And
then they approve the drugs that are needed to combat
the effects of these killing foods. In the name of money -
the big businesses, both food and drug companies, are
able to pull a lot of strings.

So where does that leave you?

That leaves you fueling the whole machine. As long as
they can make money with the system the way it is,
it’s really not going to change. Once the majority of
the people wake up from the commercial trance and
start eating healthy, you will see a big change.

If people stop buying the fast foods and packaged
foods that are killing them, the food industry will be
forced to change, or go out of business.

People won’t need the drugs that they need now.
Diseases will start to decline. The healthy care costs
will start to drop like a rock.

Seniors will have a better quality of life and be able to
be independent longer.

Talk about draining the big money machine!

Will that ever happen? I kinda doubt it. If people already
know that they can prevent, and even cure disease by
changing the way they eat; if they already know that
they can feel better, have less pain, and have more energy-
and yet they choose to continue killing themselves -
what chance do we really have of changing anything?

So, if you really feel you’re not able to change your eating
habits, then vote for the candidate that promises that we
will all continue to pay the costs.

Eat a salad and have a great day!

Magical Infection Fighter

Posted under Super-Foods

How are you today?

The other day, I had a sinus infection. You know, when
you blow your nose and pretty colors come out? I won’t
get any more descriptive than that, OK?

I knew I had been feeling a little feverish, but I
thought it was a little in my head because I’m worried
about a friend who has been recently diagnosed with
lung cancer. And Yes, I am one of the dinosaurs that
still smokes - but that’s a subject for another blog!

So, I loaded up on veggies and cranberry juice.
The next morning, all was clear. I’m telling you -
Cranberry juice is one of the most magical things
you could have in your fridge. It fights infection,
removes plaque from your teeth and arteries,
it’s a real wonder.

In my e-book High Energy Eating- I have a whole list
of ‘Super Foods’.

And if you are wanting to whip yourself into better
health - there’s a 3 week fast start guide that will
help you start healing and get that body functioning
better.

Just get started on a healthy eating plan now and you’ll
feel better, look better, and get sick less often.

How much more productive time would that give you?

Is your Diet for a Mercedes, or an Escort?

Posted under Diet & Health

Welcome Back!

You might be here reading because you need to lose some
weight, or you might be concerned about your health, or
maybe both. If you’re like most people, you haven’t done
much about making your diet healthier.

Yesterday, I mentioned that people take better care of
their cars than their bodies. I mean, really think about
that. What would happen if -

You never changed the spark plugs?

You never gave it clean oil?

You never gave it gas?

You give it cheap gas?

Your car would break down, wouldn’t it? But here
you have this beautifully designed high performance
machine - and you totally ignore it’s maintenance.
And then you wonder why it’s breaking down.

You have to make a decision to treat your body like
the high performance machine that it is, and give
it the right fuels to run it’s best. It’s not that hard.
Just a healthy balanced diet. You can still eat some
cake, and some chocolate, and things like that -
just as long as you’ve given it the food it really
needs first.

Are you treating your body like a fine Mercedes,
or a junky 10 year old Escort? Aren’t you worth
more?

Talk to you soon -

The Magic Number 7

Posted under Diet & Health

Hi,

You know, all through history - the number 7 has had
major significance. In the bible, it is always 7 years of
this or that, or 7 times. OK, except for those couple of
times when it was 40, but we don’t even want to think
about those right now, do we? I sure don’t.

It is said that life goes in 7 year cycles. In the bible, and
in law (at least it used to be) you could have your debts
forgiven every 7 years.

I went through 7 years of hell. I lost a good job where I
was making a decent living. The industry took a dive,
and jobs like mine were never to be had again. Here I
was, over 40 and basically unmarketable. Too old, too
specialized, too experienced, too expensive. I lost every-
thing.

I worked odd jobs to try and keep a roof over our heads
and food on the table. I would work on the computer
before and after work trying to break into interent
marketing. Sleeping was a luxury that I could not
afford.

During that time - the stress was unrelenting. 7 years
of constant stress. My blood pressure was high. My
vision was getting worse. Sometimes my heart would
be pounding out of my chest. But I couldn’t afford
doctors or drugs even with insurance. I made too
much money for assistance, yet not enough to pay
basic bills. That’s called the working poor, if you
haven’t heard that term before. I made a vow
that if I ever got out of that hell, I would help
anyone who was willing to work at it get out too.

The only thing that was keeping me from having a
massive heart attack was eating right and getting
exercise.

So, here’s where the number 7 comes in again.
See, 5 servings of fruits and vegetables is just
enough to keep your body from worsing - just
maintaining your current condition. Every
serving over 5 actually helps to start healing you.

And believe me, I know how hard it is to make
yourself get the 5 somedays. And somedays,
you just don’t care.

But whatever the circumstance is in your life
today - it is temporary. The damage you’re
doing to your body when you don’t eat right
is not.

Think about if you do happen to live to be
say - 80. What will the quality of your life be?
Think about that next time you want to hit
the nearest drive-thru.

We’ll talk again soon -

Carole

P.S. I don’t want you to think that fruits and
vegetables are all you need. They’re not. You
need other things too - even fats and salt

(and chocolate?)

Are you ready to live better?
